The short version: Calio collects your phone number, basic body stats, and food logs to provide personalized nutrition tracking. We don't sell your data. You can delete everything at any time by texting "delete account" to Calio.
Information we collect
TextCalio Inc. ("TextCalio", "we", "us", or "our") operates Calio, an AI-powered nutrition tracking service available via SMS. We collect information in the following ways:
Information you provide directly
- Phone number — collected when you first text Calio. This is your account identifier.
- Name — your first name, collected during onboarding.
- Body statistics — gender, age, weight, height, and activity level, collected during onboarding to calculate your calorie and macro targets.
- Nutrition goal — your selected goal (fat loss, muscle gain, maintenance, or body recomposition).
- Food logs — every meal, food item, or photo you send to Calio, including the estimated calories, protein, carbohydrates, and fat for each entry.
- Photos — when you send a photo of a meal or nutrition label to Calio, the image is transmitted to OpenAI's API for analysis. Photos are not stored permanently in our systems — they are processed in real time and the resulting nutrition data is saved as a food log entry. We do not store the original image after processing. Photos are not used to train AI models (we use OpenAI's API under their data processing terms, which include enterprise data protection).
- Weight logs — body weight entries you text to Calio over time.
- Unit preference — whether you prefer metric or imperial measurements.
- Macro tracking preferences — which macronutrients you choose to display and track.
Information collected automatically
- Message history — the content of SMS conversations between you and Calio, stored to provide conversational context and memory across sessions.
- Usage data — timestamps of messages, streak data, and last log date.
Information from third parties
- Twilio — our SMS provider delivers your messages to us. Twilio may collect metadata about message delivery per their own privacy policy.

Data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only with the following third-party service providers, and only to the extent necessary to operate Calio:
- Supabase — our database provider, hosted on AWS in the United States. Your account data, food logs, and weight logs are stored here.

Your data is stored on Supabase servers located in the United States. If you are located in Canada or another country, your data is transferred to and processed in the United States.
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including:
